Projects¶
Give every piece of work its own shelf. A project is a folder of its own on your agent's server, with its own files, its own instructions and its own conversations. The renovation stays with the renovation and the thesis with the thesis, all on one agent.

What a project gives you¶
-
A folder of its own
The agent works inside the project's folder: files you send in its conversations land there, and so do the files it makes, the code it runs and the tasks it schedules.
-
Its own instructions
A note the agent reads at the start of every conversation in the project: what it's for, how to work, what to keep in mind.
-
Its own conversations
The conversation list shows the project you're in, and every new chat starts there. Nothing to remember, nothing to sort later.
-
Private or shared
On an agent you share with others, a project can be just yours, or shared with everyone, files and conversations included.
Everything else is one and the same in every project: the agent's memory and persona, its skills, the model and settings, keys and sign-ins, and your credit. The panel's File manager and Terminal always show the whole server. Switching projects changes where the agent works, not who it is.
1 Turn projects on¶
Projects are off until someone switches them on, and while they're off nothing about them shows: every conversation works in your main folder. They're new, so the panel marks them Beta.
- Panel: Settings → Projects → Use projects.
- Telegram: send /projects and tap ▶️ Switch projects on.
The switch belongs to the whole agent: anyone who uses it, the owner or an invited user, can turn it on or off. Turning it off doesn't touch any folder. The conversations that were started in a project keep working there; only new ones go back to your main folder.
2 Create a project¶
- Panel: open the project switcher at the top of the sidebar and choose New project. Give it a name, press Add project, and you're in it, with a new chat waiting.
- Telegram: /projects → ➕ New project, then send the name. The bot creates the project and switches you into it.
- Settings → Projects → + New project creates one without leaving the project you're in.
Every project gets a folder of its own on the agent's server.
💡 When your agent has Allow additional users switched on, the panel also asks Who can see it: Only me or Every user of this agent. You can change it later, see Projects on a shared agent. A project created in Telegram starts out private.
3 Switch between projects¶
In the panel, the switcher above the conversation list names the project you're in. Pick another and its conversations fill the list, and new chats start there. Manage projects at the bottom of the same menu opens the settings.
In Telegram, /projects (or /menu → Settings → 📁 Projects) lists your projects: 🏠 your main folder, 📁 your own, 👥 the shared ones, with ✅ on the active one. Tap another to switch. If the chat you're in belongs to a different project, a new conversation starts right away in the one you picked, and its pinned title leads with the project's name. /sessions then lists that project's conversations, with the project named on top.
Renaming, sharing, instructions and removing are done in the panel.
Good to know:
- A conversation stays where it started. Switching never moves a chat that's already under way. It keeps its project, its folder and its instructions, and the switch decides where the next one starts.
- The panel and Telegram choose separately. You can be in Renovation on Telegram while the panel shows Thesis. Each remembers its own choice.
4 Give the project instructions¶
Settings → Projects → the ⋯ next to a project → Instructions…
Write what the agent should know there: what the project is for, who's involved, the decisions already made, how you like the work done. The agent reads it at the start of every conversation in this project, so you don't have to explain the background again each time.
For example
“Renovation of our flat. Budget €15,000, finish by March. Always compare at least three quotes. Keep a running cost table in costs.xlsx and update it whenever an offer comes in.”
Keep the essentials at the top
A conversation already under way keeps the instructions it started with, so a change applies from the next chat on. Long instructions are fine, but the first few thousand characters reach the agent directly and it reads the rest from the file when needed.
The instructions live in the project's folder as an ordinary file
(AGENTS.md), so you can also ask the agent to write or update them for you.
Your main folder¶
Everyone who uses the agent has a main folder of their own, shown as General in the switcher. It's where conversations work while projects are off, and where everything from before projects lives.
General is your home rather than a project: it can't be renamed, shared or removed. It's also the place for work that spans several projects. From a project the agent keeps to that project's folder, while from General it can reach into all of them.
Projects on a shared agent¶
When you share your agent with other people, everyone gets their own main folder and their own projects. Each project is one of two kinds:
-
Private (the default)
Listed only for you, and only your conversations go there.
-
Shared
Listed for every user of the agent and marked Shared. Everyone works with the same files and instructions, and the conversations in it are shared too.
In a shared project, the conversations are common ground. Everyone sees them in the project's list and can read them, continue them, rename them or delete them, so several people can work in the same chat: in the panel, or on Telegram, where /sessions marks them with 👥 and a tap joins one. Each message shows who wrote it, and the agent knows who it's answering. It answers one message at a time: if someone else's message is being answered, the panel or the bot tells you, and you send yours once the reply is in.
- Share or make private from the project's ⋯ menu: Share with every user or Make private. A project made private leaves the others' lists, and their conversations from it carry on in their own main folder.
- Who manages a shared project: the person who created it, and the agent's owner. Renaming and removing are theirs. Only the creator can make it private again.
- Background jobs in a shared project are everyone's. Every user sees them under Settings → Background jobs, can change them, and gets their notifications in the panel and on Telegram.
- When a user is removed, the projects they shared stay shared and pass to the owner. Their private projects leave the lists, and the files stay on the server.
Private means unlisted, not locked away
Invited users are trusted users. Everyone's work runs under the same account on the agent's server, so a private project is hidden from other people's lists, but it isn't a vault. Keep anything truly secret off a shared agent.
Remove a project, or delete it for good¶
Deleting comes in two steps, so nothing disappears by accident:
- ⋯ → Remove from the list. The project leaves the lists, but its files and conversations stay on the server, and your conversations from it show up under General. You'll find the project under Removed projects at the bottom of Settings → Projects, where Put back on the list brings it back.
- Removed projects → ⋯ → Delete permanently… This deletes the folder with every file in it and every conversation that worked in it, and it can't be undone. To confirm, you type the folder name. For a shared project, the panel also tells you how many other users have conversations in it.
Good to know¶
- Renaming changes only the name. The folder keeps the name it was created with, so links, scripts and tools that use it keep working. The instructions window shows the folder's real name.
- Files you send stay with the project. A file you send in a project's
conversation is copied into the project folder's
uploads, and the agent works on it right there. With projects off, files are kept as before. - Background jobs run in a project. Under Settings → Background jobs, a job's first field is its project, and a new job starts in the one you have open. A job you ask the agent for in a project's conversation runs in that project. A shared project's job notifies everyone who uses the agent, any other job only you. While projects are off, every job notifies only the person it belongs to.
- Search covers everything. The agent searches the history of all your conversations, whatever project they're in, and can tell you which project a result came from.
- The API works in General. Calls through the agent's OpenAI-compatible API always work in the caller's main folder.
- Up to 50 projects fit on one agent, counting everyone's. A name can be up to 60 characters long.
